Es conocida tanto por su colaboración con el grupo musical The Velvet Underground como por su trabajo como solista. Si bien es más conocida por su trabajo musical, tuvo también un puñado de papeles en el cine, incluyendo una pequeña aparición en la aclamada película de Federico Fellini de 1960 La Dolce Vita.
