La commune est connue pour sa cité médiévale qui, juchée sur un mamelon de la Côtière, constitue le Vieux Pérouges. La cité médiévale de Pérouges est classée parmi les Plus Beaux Villages de France et en fait un des lieux les plus touristiques du département.
