Peter Bieri

Peter Bieri (1944–2023) was a Swiss writer, philosopher, and university teacher. He also wrote under the pseudonym Pascal Mercier. His notable work includes the novel *Night Train to Lisbon*. He was a member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Lower Saxony.

Bieri was educated at the University of California, Berkeley, Harvard University, the Institute for Advanced Study Berlin, and Heidelberg University. He worked at the Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Marburg, residing in Berlin and Marburg. He spoke German. His other works include *Transcendental arguments and science*, *Analytische Philosophie der Erkenntnis*, *Relationships between perception and action*, *Analytische Philosophie des Geistes*, and *La dignidad humana*. He was born in Bern and died in Berlin.
