Herpetologie Pseudoeurycea is een geslacht van salamanders uit de familie longloze salamanders (Plethodontidae). De groep werd voor het eerst wetenschappelijk beschreven door Edward Harrison Taylor in 1944.[1] Er zijn veertig verschillende soorten die voorkomen in delen van Midden-Amerika en leven in de landen Mexico en Guatemala.[2] Vroeger waren er meer soorten, maar een aantal soorten is aan andere geslachten toegewezen. Pseudoeurycea is a genus of salamander in the family Plethodontidae. The members of this genus are commonly known as the false brook salamanders. They are found in Mexico and Guatemala.
In order to preserve Ixalotriton and Bolitoglossa while avoiding paraphyly of Pseudoeurycea, species in the former "Pseudoeurycea bellii species group" have been moved to the genus Isthmura, and those in the former "Pseudoeurycea cephalica species group" to Aquiloeurycea.
