Ragtime è un film del 1981 diretto da Miloš Forman. La sceneggiatura è tratta dal romanzo omonimo di E.L. Doctorow. Il Ragtime, la cui traduzione si assomiglia a qualcosa come "tempo a pezzi" o "tempo stracciato" è un genere di musica sincopata, considerato un antenato del jazz e dello swing, in voga in America alla fine dell'Ottocento e nel primo Novecento. Esprime nel caso del film, l'epoca spensierata, godereccia e miserabile, a seconda degli strati sociali, che caratterizzò gli Stati Uniti negli anni precedenti la prima guerra mondiale. La pellicola rappresenta il debutto cinematografico dell'attore Jeff Daniels.
