Aslen Rizeli olan Recep Tayyip Erdoğan 26 Şubat 1954'te İstanbul'da doğdu. 1965 yılında Kasımpaşa Piyale İlkokulu'ndan, 1973 yılında ise İstanbul İmam Hatip Lisesi'nden mezun oldu. Fark dersleri sınavını vererek Eyüp Lisesi'nden de diploma aldı.
