Richard Burton

Richard Burton (1925–1984) was a British film and stage actor, diarist, and member of the Royal Air Force. Born Richard Walter Jenkins in Pontrhydyfen, he was a native Welsh speaker who also spoke English. He attended Exeter College and held citizenship in the United Kingdom and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Burton was married to Elizabeth Taylor, Sybil Christopher, and Suzy Miller, and was the father of Kate Burton. He identified as an atheist and died in Geneva, Céligny.

His career included receiving the Commander of the Order of the British Empire, the Theatre World Award, a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical, and Golden Globes. He was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, as well as a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play. Burton is recognized in the Hollywood Walk of Fame collection.
