The German organist, Robert Köbler, studied church music in Leipzig from 1931 to 1934. From 1935 to 1945 he was choirmaster and Organist in Löbau (Saxony). From 1946 he lectured in organ and harpsichord at the College of Music in Leipzig; from 1949 he was also Organist at the Leipzig University Church, which the communist government destroyed in 1968.
