الرقيب الروماني كان منصباً في روما القديمة يتولَّى صاحبه الإشراف على إحصاءات السكان في الدولة، إضافةً إلى تولي قليل من الشؤون المالية. كما تضمَّن دور الرقيب تنظيماً أخلاقياً للحياة في روما، ممَّا جعل اسم هذا المنصب الأصل لمصطلح «الرقابة» الأجنبي.
