Saalkreis was a district (Kreis) in the south of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Neighboring districts were (from west clockwise) Mansfelder Land, Bernburg, Köthen, Bitterfeld, the district Delitzsch in Saxony, and the district Merseburg-Querfurt. The district-free city Halle is nearly surrounded by the district.

Il Saalkreis era un circondario della Sassonia-Anhalt di 75.712 abitanti, che aveva come capoluogo Halle (Saale). Già circondario durante la DDR, venne mantenuto tale (sebbene con un ritocco dei confini) anche dopo l'unificazione. Il 1º luglio 1994 ha subito un ampliamento territoriale, raccogliendo parte del territorio del . Il 1º luglio 2007 è stato poi unito con il circondario di Merseburg-Querfurt, a formare il nuovo circondario della Saale.
