Sechium was a genus of plants now subsumed into the genus Sicyos: also placed in the tribe Sicyoeae of the gourd family, Cucurbitaceae. Its best known member was the edible and widely cultivated chayote (now Sicyos edulis).

Sechium est un genre de plantes à fleurs de la famille des Cucurbitacées dont douze espèces ont été décrites. La plus connue est la chayote, plante potagère grimpante cultivée dans les pays tropicaux. Ce genre appartient à la tribu des Sicyeae.

Sechium was a genus of plants now subsumed into the genus Sicyos: also placed in the tribe Sicyoeae of the gourd family, Cucurbitaceae. Its best known member was the edible and widely cultivated chayote (now Sicyos edulis).
