Smart (Swatch Mercedes Art) is een automerk onder de vleugels van het concern Daimler AG. Soms wordt ook MCC Smart gebruikt. De oprichting van de Smart GmbH begon in 1993 nadat eerder dat jaar bij Mercedes-Benz de eerste gedachte aan een kleine auto die geschikt is voor een grote stad rondging. Hierna ging alles in sneltreinvaart en werd in maart 1993 op een persconferentie de geplande samenwerking met SMH (nu de Swatch Group) aangekondigd.
