collectiedegroen.nl →Perry is een Amerikaanse videokunstenaar. Zij maakt sociaal geëngageerde video’s. Vaak gebruikt zij haar achtergrond als zwarte kunstenaar als vertrekpunt voor haar werk. Onderzoek naar de geschiedenis van zwart Amerika is een rode draad in haar werk. Voor de video Double Quadruple Etcetera Etcetera I & II gebruikt Perry een computerprogramma dat de bewegingen van de zwarte dansers onzichtbaar probeert te maken. Het programma probeert de bewegende dansers te vervangen door de ruimte, de achtergrond waarin zij hun dans uitvoeren. Maar de software heeft geen totale grip op het beeld. Zo blijft bijvoorbeeld het iconische zwarte kroeshaar voortdurend zichtbaar en ook de menselijke gestalten voeren een schimmige dans uit. Perry weet met haar video engagement en esthetiek met elkaar te verbinden. Sondra Perry (Perth Amboy, New Jersey USA, 1986) werkt in New York. Deze kunstenaar was bij ons in onderstaande SETUPS en SHOWS te zien.
