In de statistiek is een steekproeffunctie precies wat de naam aangeeft, namelijk een functie van de steekproef. Steekproeffuncties vatten de informatie uit de steekproef in de gewenste vorm samen. Afhankelijk van het toepassingsgebied wordt een steekproeffunctie ook aangeduid als schatter, toetsingsgrootheid, e.d.
