Das Storting (norwegisch, wörtlich „Großes Thing“, „Großversammlung“) ist das Parlament von Norwegen mit Sitz im Stortingsgebäude in Oslo. Für die Wahl 2021 wurden weiterhin die gleichen Wahlkreise verwendet, die nach der landesweiten Regionalreform allerdings nicht mehr deckungsgleich zu den Provinzen waren. Im Plenum des Parlaments sitzen die Abgeordneten nicht in Fraktionen zusammen, sondern nach Heimatprovinzen getrennt. Die Legislaturperiode wurde 1938 auf vier Jahre festgelegt; eine vorzeitige Auflösung ist nicht möglich. Bis 2009 bildeten drei Viertel der Storting-Abgeordneten den Odelsting und das restliche Viertel den Lagting. Es existiert seit der Annahme der norwegischen Verfassung am 17. Mai 1814 in Eidsvoll und bestand auch während der bis 1905 andauernden Personalunion mit Schweden. 1884 setzte sich der Parlamentarismus durch, seitdem ist die Regierung von der Mehrheitsbildung im Storting abhängig. Dominierten zunächst die Liberalen das Parlament, stellt seit 1927 die sozialdemokratische Arbeiterpartei die größte Fraktion, von 1945 bis 1961 mit absoluter Mehrheit.
