Ein Stromlinienfahrzeug hat eine Karosserie mit geringem Luftwiderstand. Dazu werden Stirnfläche und Widerstandsbeiwert (Cw) möglichst klein gehalten. Der Luftwiderstand steigt bei höheren Geschwindigkeiten stark an. Je geringer der Luftwiderstand, desto geringer sind der Fahrwiderstand und der Benzinverbrauch, und umso größer ist die Höchstgeschwindigkeit.
