STS-2
Sign in to saveSTS-2 was the second Space Shuttle mission conducted by NASA, and the second flight of the orbiter Columbia. The mission, crewed by Joe H. Engle and Richard H. Truly, launched on November 12, 1981, and landed two days later on November 14, 1981. STS-2 marked the first time that a crewed, reusable orbital vehicle returned to space. This mission tested the Shuttle Imaging Radar (SIR) as part of the OSTA-1 (Office of Space and Terrestrial Applications) payload, along with a wide range of other experiments including the Shuttle robotic arm, commonly known as Canadarm.

STS-2は、アメリカ航空宇宙局によるスペースシャトルのミッションである。1981年11月12日にコロンビアで打ち上げられた。スペースシャトルの、またコロンビア号の2度目のミッションであり、地球に帰還した再利用可能な有人宇宙船が再び宇宙に戻ったのは初めてのことである。 スペースシャトル計画の検討の初期段階では、STS-2ではスカイラブの再起動を行う予定であったが、開発の遅れとスカイラブの軌道が縮小していたため、ミッションは不可能だった。STS-2の打上げ時には、スカイラブは既に軌道を外れてかなり経った後だった。
