Its prefecture, or administrative, area ranges in latitude from 30° 10' 50" to 31° 10' 50" N, or and in longitude from 105° 03' 26" to 106° 59' 49" E, or . While much of the prefecture is mountainous, the urban area itself, which occupies , is located on flat land.
