Tauno Marttinen(b. 1912) is a Finnish composer of contemporary classical music. He studied music at Viipuri (Vyborg ) during the 1920s and in Helsinki during the 1930s under such teachers as Peter Akimov, Ilmari Hannikainen and Selim Palmgren. After Jean Sibelius, he is often considered the most prominent Finnish composer, and in 1965, he received the Pro Finlandia medal for his entire oeuvre, and in 1972, he was given an honorary Professorship by the president of Finland. <a href="https://www.l
