In the Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group classification of 2016 (PPG I), it is placed in the suborder Aspleniineae. Alternatively, the family may be submerged in a very broadly defined family Aspleniaceae as the subfamily Thelypteridoideae.

金星蕨科（學名：Thelypteridaceae）為水龍骨目eupolypods II（英语：eupolypods II）支序之下一個链束植物地生蕨的科，包括物種約900種。葉為單一或一回羽狀複葉，下羽片多少較短。每個小列片有羽狀小脈，相鄰兩組小脈會相連，且從結合點再長出一條連接葉緣缺刻的脈，是所謂「小毛蕨脈型」，全世界僅金星蕨科鱗片長毛 。孢子囊堆為圓形或線形，大多沒有蓋膜。地生蕨，葉為單一或一回羽狀複葉，下羽片多少較短。每個小列片有羽狀小脈，相鄰兩組小脈會相連，且從結合點再長出一條連接葉緣缺刻的脈，是所謂「小毛蕨脈型」，全世界僅金星蕨科鱗片長毛 。孢子囊堆為圓形或線形，大多沒有蓋膜。

Thelypteridaceae is a family of about 900 species of ferns in the order Polypodiales. In the Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group classification of 2016 (PPG I), it is placed in the suborder Aspleniineae. Alternatively, the family may be submerged in a very broadly defined family Aspleniaceae as the subfamily Thelypteridoideae.
The ferns are terrestrial, with the exception of a few which are lithophytes (grow on rocks). The bulk of the species are tropical, although there are a number of temperate species.
