Un huso horario es cada una de las franjas geográficas virtuales, orientadas de norte a sur, limitadas por meridianos igualmente espaciados, en las que se divide un planeta y en las que suele regir una misma hora oficial. Esta hora se construye sumando o restando un número entero de horas respecto a un estándar de tiempo. En la Tierra, hay 24 husos con una amplitud de 15 grados medidos en el sentido de la longitud, que es el ángulo que la Tierra rota en una hora. La hora se calcula a partir del Tiempo Universal Coordinado (UTC). Una zona horaria es una región geográfica que comparte una misma hora oficial.
