It is situated in the Ancash Region, Carhuaz Province, Aco District, and in the Huaraz Province, Tarica District. Its territory is within the Peruvian protection area of Huascarán National Park. Tocllaraju lies north-west of the mountains Pukaranra and Palcaraju.
