Zar (bulgarisch und serbisch цар oder russisch царь ; aus alt-bulgarisch цѣсарь, кесар, das auf lateinisch Caesar zurückgeht) war der höchste Herrschertitel in Bulgarien, Serbien und Russland. Der Begriff Zar wird gemeinhin mit dem Moskauer Reich in Verbindung gebracht, obwohl der bulgarische Herrscher Simeon I.
