Vanth ist der erste bekannte Mond des Plutinos und Zwergplanetenkandidaten (90482) Orcus, der bahndynamisch als Plutino eingestuft wird. Nach aktuellem Wissensstand weist Vanth etwa die Hälfte des Durchmessers des Mutterasteroiden auf; daher kann dieses System auch als Doppelasteroidensystem verstanden werden.
