Volkmar Andreae (born in Bern 1879 - died in Zürich in 1962) was a Swiss conductor and composer who became one of the leading figures in his country’s musical life during the early 20th century. Trained in Zürich and Cologne, he served for decades as chief conductor of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich, where he championed both contemporary music and the Austro-German symphonic tradition.
