Il VTEC (Variable Valve Timing & Lift Electronic Control) è un sistema sviluppato da Honda per migliorare l'efficienza volumetrica di un motore a combustione interna a quattro tempi, questo sistema utilizza due alberi a camme e profili a selezione elettronica. Questo sistema fu inventato presso Honda R & D dall'ingegnere e introdotto sul CBR400 nel 1983, noto come HYPER VTEC. Sono stati sviluppati anche altri tipi di variazione della fasatura da altri costruttori (MIVEC da Mitsubishi, VVTL-i da Toyota, VarioCam Plus di Porsche, VVL da Nissan, ecc.).
