William Kidd, ou le capitaine Kidd, est né le 22 janvier 1645 à Greenock Écosse et mort pendu le 23 mai 1701 à Londres Angleterre. Le capitaine Kidd était soit un pirate notoire, soit l'homme qui fut le plus diffamé et persécuté par la couronne anglaise. Malgré les légendes, sa carrière fut faite de seulement quelques escarmouches qui l'obligèrent à défendre son honneur.
