Yonina Eldar

Yonina Eldar is an Israeli engineer and university teacher born in Toronto in 1973. She works at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and has been employed by the Weizmann Institute of Science, the Broad Institute, and Duke University. Her professional fields include engineering, convex optimization, electrical engineering, and compressed sensing. She is a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Eldar received her education at Tel Aviv University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where her doctoral advisor was Alan V. Oppenheim. She is an IEEE Fellow and a recipient of the Israel Prize, which recognizes her work in the Israel Prize collection. She speaks English and has five children.
