Allvar Gullstrand

Allvar Gullstrand was a Swedish ophthalmologist, physician, and university teacher. Born in Landskrona in 1862, he died in Stockholm, Oscar Parish, in 1930. He received his education at Uppsala University, where he also served as an employer. His primary field of work was ophthalmology.

Gullstrand was a member of several academic institutions, including the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Royal Society of Arts and Sciences in Gothenburg, the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters, and the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Physics and the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, the latter of which he received. His published works include *Einführung in die Methoden der Dioptrik* and *Allgemeine Theorie der monochromatischen Aberrationen und ihre nächsten Ergebnisse für die Ophthalmologie*.
