Andreu Mas-Colell

Andreu Mas-Colell is a Spanish economist, politician, and university teacher born in Barcelona in 1944. He has held positions at Harvard University, the University of California, Berkeley, Pompeu Fabra University, and the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics. His academic background includes studies at the University of Barcelona, the University of Valladolid, and the University of Minnesota, where he earned a doctorate. He is a member of the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia and the Democratic Convergence of Catalonia.

Mas-Colell has served as president of the King of Spain Prize in Economics. He is a member of the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, Academia Europaea, the National Academy of Sciences, and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. His awards include the Guggenheim Fellowship, the King of Spain Prize in Economics, and the Saint George's Cross. He is also recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
