Anna's Archive is an open source search engine for shadow libraries that was launched by the pseudonymous Anna shortly after law enforcement efforts to shut down Z-Library in 2022. The site aggregates records from Z-Library, Sci-Hub, and Library Genesis (LibGen), among other sources. It calls itself "the largest truly open library in human history", and has said it aims to "catalog all the books in existence" and "track humanity's progress toward making all these books easily available in digital form". It claims not to be liable for downloads of copyrighted works since it does not directly host any files, instead linking to third-party downloads. It has nonetheless been targeted for engaging in large-scale copyright infringement, facing government blocks and legal action from rightsholders and publishing trade associations.

Welcome to the Anna’s Archive and Z-Library Guide – Updated for July 2026! Anna’s Archive and Z-Library are websites that offer a simpler alternative to the well-known Library Genesis / libgen sites for downloading millions of books and scientific papers as e-books – from fiction books to fantasy, crime to science fiction, romance to thriller, as well as textbooks, journal articles, academic works, graphic novels, comics etc – in epub, pdf, mobi and many other formats. Perfect for reading on your Kindle, Ipad, Android or any e-reader device capable of reading books in eBook format. In the guides below, I will outline how to safely download e-books from Anna’s Archive and Z-Library in 2026, avoiding any issues that are inevitably connected with downloading from the internet! For an in-depth guide on how to download e-books from Library Genesis / libgen, visit our sister site Library Genesis Guide . Anna’s Archive bills itself as ‘ The largest truly open library in human history ‘. It claims to have over 40 million books available for download and scrapes sites such as Sci-Hub, LibGen Z-Lib, DuXiu and more. If the url you try is not responding, please try another one – the 3 legitimate Anna’s Archive urls often go through periods where one or more of the sites is down. Has an amazing range of books and, because it scrapes libgen and many other sites, will often have books that you just can’t find on the individual sites. Seems to be safe from malware etc and downloads are clean without viruses. Open source and generally transparent organisation. Liber3 is is another new site offering book downloads. It seems to have access to the same library as Anna’s Archive and Z-Library and is quite fast and pop-up free! Memory of the World is another new site offering book downloads. Its fairly fast – but does not have the full range of books that the above sites have. Use as a last resort. As always, please exercise caution when downloading anything from the internet . A strong antivirus is mandatory when surfing and downloading files. We also advise you have an ad-blocker installed . We recommend uBlock Origin or uBlock for the Chrome browser If the url you try is not responding, please try another one – the 3 legitimate Anna’s Archive urls often go through periods where one or more of the sites is down. 3. You will now reach this page, where you can see a number of choices listed: ‘Slow’ download options cary, but there are normally between 2-5 options. We advise not using the ‘no waitlist’ option as it is very slow! So instead, click on one of the ‘Slow Partner Server 1 (slightly faster but with waitlist)’ links. There is nothing to worry about here – this is a standard screen implemented by Anna’s Archive to prevent bot attacks and abuse on their site. Usually it will move onto the next scream after a few seconds, or you have to complete a ‘CAPCTHA’ You will then move onto this screen There is also a copy button below the download link. This is useful as you can save the download link in case anything goes wrong. Download speeds are also based on site demand – i.e downloads are slower when a lot of people are downloading. 3. Click on the book you would like to download, and you will get to this screen: Now you click on the relevant file type you want to download- usual choices are .pdf or. epub. The other buttons – ‘read online’, ‘add to my library’ etc are not relevant. 5. Your book choice should now download to your device – ready for reading! 3. You’ll reach the screen below. Click on the download button on the right, and your book will download – note, though, that it can be slow to start the download, 3. Once results are displayed, click on the relevant book and then click on the download button, bottom right. Your selected book will then download.
