Arnaldur Indriðason was born in Reykjavik on 28 January 1961, the son of fellow Icelandic writer; Indriði G Thorsteinsson. Indriðason graduated with a degree in History from the University of Iceland in 1996. He worked for many years as a journalist and critic before he began writing novels.
