Carolus Luython, or French: Charles Luython, (Antwerp, 1557 – Prague, 2nd August 1620) was a late composer of the "fifth generation" of the Franco-Flemish school. [1] Luython was recruited as a child to serve in the choir of Maximilian II in Vienna. After Maximillian's death in 1576 Luython become court organist and composer to Rudolf II first in Vienna, then in Prague, while his fellow Fleming Philippe de Monte was Kapellmeister 1568–1603, together with the Germans Hans Leo Hassler and Jakob H

Carolus Luython o Charles Luython (Anversa, 1557 – Praga, 2 agosto 1620) è stato un compositore e organista fiammingo. Luython fu uno degli ultimi compositori della 5ª generazione della scuola franco-fiamminga. Scrisse musica vocale e per organo, religiosa e profana, quest'ultima in particolare su testi di poeti latini. Una buona parte delle sue composizioni (Messe, odi latine, mottetti, brani per organo, etc.) ci è giunta sia in forma stampata che manoscritta.
