==History and synthesis== Cyclohexylbenzene was first obtained in 1899 by Markovnikov's student Nikolay Kirsanov (1874–1921). He used a Friedel–Crafts alkylation of benzene with cyclohexyl chloride using a catalyst such as aluminum trichloride:
