5.2A team of space marines known as the Rapid Response Tactical Squad, led by Sarge, is sent to a science facility on Mars after somebody reports a security breach. There, they learn that the alert came after a test subject, a mass murderer purposefully injected with alien DNA, broke free and began killing people. Dr. Grimm, who is related to team member Reaper, informs them all that the chromosome can mutate humans into monsters -- and is highly infectious.

In the film, marines are sent on a rescue mission to a facility on Mars, where they encounter demon-like creatures.
An international co-production of the United States, the United Kingdom, Czech Republic, and Germany, Doom was theatrically released in the United States on October 21, 2005, to negative reviews. The film was a box office bomb, grossing $58.7 million worldwide against a production budget between $60–70 million. In 2019, Universal released a second live-action film direct-to-video titled Doom: Annihilation.
