Francisco Escudero Garcia (Zarautz, 1912-2002), began his studies with Beltran Pagola at the age of nine, later continuing his studies in Madrid, Paris and later Munich. By his death at age 88 his remarkable musical output was critically acclaimed worldwide. Escudero fought for the Basque Nationalists during the Civil War and later was exiled to France.
