Its native label is Deutsch.

The language features a subject–object–verb and subject–verb–object typology with V2 word order. It is a nominative–accusative language with grammatical gender including masculine, feminine, and neuter forms. German utilizes the nominative, genitive, dative, and accusative cases, along with indicative, imperative, and subjunctive moods. Tenses include present, future, preterite, and perfect.
