== Etymology == The word 'kadhi' is derived from the Sanskrit root kvathita (क्वथित) which refers to a decoction or a gruel of curcuma, asafoetida and buttermilk. In Sanskrit literature, kadhi has been referred to with the name kvathika (क्वथिका).
