Max Brand ( April 26 1896 in Lvov , † April 5 1980 in Langenzersdorf ) was an Austrian composer and pioneer of the synthesizer - and electronic music . Max Brand in 1900 moved with his parents to Vienna . After attending several private schools, he studied composition from 1919 when Franz Schreker , first in Vienna and in Berlin (from 1920). In 1924 he returned to Vienna. That same year, he had heard a performance of Schoenberg's Wind Quintet, Opus 26, which impressed him greatly. <a href="http
