36th and last Sultan of the Ottoman Empire (1918–1922)
Mehmed VI was the final sultan to rule the Ottoman Empire, serving from 1918 until 1922 during a period of dramatic decline and collapse following World War I. His reign matters historically because it marked the end of over 600 years of Ottoman rule and the transition to the modern nation-state of Turkey.
