Mérida (nome completo Santiago de los Caballeros de Mérida) é uma cidade venezuelana, capital do e do Estado de Mérida. A cidade propriamente dita tem mais de 300 000 habitantes e a área metropolitana entre 450 000 e 1 000 000, sendo o maior centro estudantil e turístico do ocidente venezuelano, sede da prestigiosa Universidade de Los Andes e ostentando o teleférico mais alto e segundo mais longo do mundo. A cidade situa-se a 1 600 m de altitude sobre uma meseta encravada no vale do rio Chama, que a percorre de um lado ao outro. Como fundo ergue-se no horizonte o cume mais elevado do país: o pico Bolívar. É uma das principais localidades dos Andes venezuelanos, foi fundada em 1558, como parte de Nova Granada, e passou a pertencer à Capitania Geral da Venezuela, tendo um papel activo durante a Guerra de Independência.
