Mérida is a city and big city in Venezuela, serving as the capital of the Mérida state. It is located within the Libertador administrative territorial entity. The city was established in 1558 and is named after Mérida. It has a population of 248,192 and covers an area of 25 square kilometers. The elevation above sea level is 1630 meters.
