The common fish leech parasitizes on fish, such as pike, perch, bream, sticklebacks and fish from the salmon family. In seawater, they are found on sole and rays. There are several species which closely resemble each other. The leech is elongated and has two well developed suction pads. Common fish leeches are extremely good swimmers.
