18th century

Mary Young—better known in contemporary musical life as “Polly” Young, and in print as Maria Barthélemon—was an English soprano, keyboard player, and composer active in London’s mid-to-late eighteenth-century concert and theatre worlds. Born in Covent Garden in 1749 into a musically prominent Young family, she emerged early as a performer within a professional network that also included her sisters Isabella and Elizabeth, both celebrated singers. <a href="https://www.last.fm/music/Polly+Young">R
