Its only species, Psimada quadripennis, is found in the Indian subregion, southern China, Taiwan, Myanmar, Thailand, Sri Lanka, the Andaman Islands, Sundaland, Sulawesi and Seram. Both the genus and species were first described by Francis Walker in 1858.
