Saul Perlmutter

Saul Perlmutter is an American physicist, astronomer, and professor who works in the field of astrophysics. Born in Champaign in 1959, he resides in Berkeley and is employed by the University of California, Berkeley. He was educated at Harvard University and the University of California, Berkeley. His doctoral advisor was Richard A. Muller.

Perlmutter is a recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics. He is also a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Astronomical Society, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His other awards include the Ernest Orlando Lawrence Award and the John Scott Award. He is recognized in the Nobel Laureates, Nobel Physics, and American Academy Arts Sciences collections.
