It is practiced by scientists and involves the study of natural science, social science, formal science, and experimental science. The field is characterized by scientific evidence and is part of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It has a distinct history and is studied through metascience, science studies, science and technology studies, and epistemology.
The subject is described in sources such as the Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary and The Nuttall Encyclopædia. It is maintained by WikiProject Science and appears on focus lists for Wikipedia articles. Science is different from pseudoscience, antiscience, dogma, metaphysics, Veda, and the entity Science.
