Со́лнечное затме́ние — астрономическое явление, которое заключается в том, что Луна закрывает (затмевает) полностью или частично Солнце от наблюдателя на Земле. Солнечное затмение возможно только в новолуние, когда сторона Луны, обращённая к Земле, не освещена, и сама Луна не видна.
