Least ConcernObservations: While females may reproduce much sooner, males generally do not mate in their first year of life. It has been estimated that these animals live up to 4 years in the wild (Bernhard Grzimek 1990). Record longevity in captivity, however, is only 3.1 years (Richard Weigl 2005). Further studies are necessary.
