Un moteur avec cylindres en ligne est une architecture de moteur à explosion avec cylindres placés les uns à côté des autres. C'est l'architecture de moteur automobile la plus utilisée en Europe. Le premier moteur avec quatre cylindres en ligne et arbres à cames en tête de série a été mis au point en 1954 par l'ingénieur Giuseppe Busso pour l'Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
